Men's tennis competes at ITA Regional

Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Some members of the Otterbein University men's tennis team competed over the weekend at the ITA Regional, hosted by Kalamazoo College.

Senior Max Fickas started the weekend with a come from behind win in the opening round. Fickas knocked off Trine's Andrew Spirrison by a 4-6, 6-4 (10-7) margin before falling in the second round.

Sanjan Shanker opened the weekend with a tough 6-4, 4-6, 9-11 loss at the hands of Santiago Diaz from Augustana College. In the consolation bracket, the sophomore was bounced in an 8-5 loss.

In doubles play, Nikita Kitaev and Jake Chilcote dropped their first round match, 8-2, to the duo from Kalamazoo College. Taking on the tandem out of North Central College, the duo fell in the consolation bracket in a hard-fought 8-6 match.

The team will be idle until the spring season starts in mid-February.
