Men's tennis competes at Big Red Invitational

GRANVILLE, Ohio – Over the weekend, the Otterbein University men's tennis team wrapped up its fall competition, with a majority of the squad competing at the Big Red Invitational, hosted by Denison University.

Otterbein opened doubles action Saturday with a win from freshmen Bradyn Woodard and Devan Patel, who defeated Findlay's Davis and Nguyen, 6-3. The Cardinals also sent out the tandems of Jake Chilcote and Nikita Kitaev, along with Arthur Porto and Nathan Walter.

In singles, Porto turned in one of Otterbein's top performances of the weekend, cruising past Wooster's Jang, 6-1, 6-1, in the opening round. Porto advanced to the second round before falling to Wilmington's Morla, 6-2, 6-4. Kitaev also picked up a victory, battling past Ohio Northern's Ehret, 6-4, 0-6, 10-7. He later put together another competitive showing against Wooster's Ishikawa, eventually falling 7-6(8), 6-3. 

Chilcote battled through a three-set match against Ohio Northern's Mucarsel, dropping a 6-2, 2-6, 10-4 decision. Porto closed the weekend on a high note, earning his second singles victory of the tournament with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Wilmington's Lagaza Robayna. 

The Cardinals will prepare for the spring season, commencing in February.
