Four from men's tennis honored by OAC

WESTERVILLE – Postseason accolades rolled in on Friday for the Otterbein University men's tennis team, with four Cardinals earning All-OAC honors. Max Fickas and Sanjan Shanker were named to the First Team with Neil Reddy and Jake Chilcote collecting Second Team accolades. 

Fickas earns his third consecutive First Team All-OAC honor, capping off a stellar career at Otterbein. In conference competition, the senior posted a 2-1 record holding down the No. 2 singles spot for the Cardinals. His 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win in the OAC Tournament Semifinals sent Otterbein into the championship match.

Shanker was named to the All-OAC First Team for the second straight season, turning in a solid year at No. 1 singles. Shanker went 2-1 in OAC action in the top spot, proving a bright future for the sophomore. 

Reddy receives his third straight All-OAC accolade, earning Second Team honors in 2024 and Honorable Mention status last season. Reddy was consistent in the No. 5 singles spot for Otterbein, posting a 2-1 conference record. 

Chilcote rounds out the selections by earning his third consecutive All-OAC accolade as well, turning in a strong season for the Cardinals. In conference play, he finished 2-1 in both doubles and singles play. 

Otterbein concluded the season 7-10 overall and finished second in the OAC regular season. The Cardinals put together a gritty performance to defeat Baldwin Wallace in the OAC Tournament Semifinals before falling to Ohio Northern in the championship.
