Cardinals come up short at No. 14 Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio – A tough second quarter was the difference as the Otterbein University women's basketball team fell to No. 14 Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday evening. 

Sophomore Mattie Walburn paced all players, scoring 16 points on a 7 of 10 shooting performance. Cameron Sparks was the second Otterbein player to reach double figures, scoring 10 points and bringing down eight rebounds. 

After one quarter, the Yellow Jackets held a slim 23-17 lead over Otterbein. Baldwin Wallace used a big second quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 20-8 in the period to hold a significant edge at halftime. BW connected on four 3-pointers in the quarter, shooting 9 for 19 in the game. 

Baldwin Wallace continued to answer anytime the Cardinals found momentum. The visitors were unable to trim the deficit to single digits in the second half.

Madilyn Stechschulte also corralled eight rebounds for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals will host Mount Union on Saturday in the second half of a men's and women's doubleheader. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
