Men's soccer falls in OAC Tournament Semifinals

ADA, Ohio – Despite numerous chances and good looks at the goal, the No. 3 seeded Otterbein University men's soccer team saw its 2026 season come to a close on Thursday in the OAC Tournament Semifinals. The Cardinals dropped a 1-0 decision at No. 2 seed Ohio Northern University.

Otterbein's best scoring chance in the first half came just 12 minutes before the break. Jeffrey Addo got a good look with the ONU keeper out, but he was unable to get a good touch on the ball. The mishit allowed Luca Chiappetta to recover and make the save, preserving a scoreless first half.

Early in the second half, the Cardinals got another clean look, but Mitch Wheeler's shot to the lower right corner was turned away by Chiapetta. Chiapetta finished the match with nine saves.

In the 60th minute, Ohio Northern's Miles Armstrong buried the game's lone goal for the 1-0 lead. A ball played into the box was flicked to Armstrong, one-touching it for the Polar Bear score.

Otterbein's best chance at the equalizer came in the 80th minute, but Lincoln Wallace's shot narrowly missed, hitting the post. The Cards outshot the hosts 19-13 and held the slim 6-5 edge in corner kicks.

Otterbein concludes the 2026 campaign with a 11-4-2 record.
