Glenn nets 100th career goal, WLAX wins at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Alyssa Glenn reached the 100 career goal milestone to highlight the Otterbein University women's lacrosse team's 19-7 season opening win over Transylvania.

Ava Robey led all players with a three goal, four assist performance. Freshman Dakota Klein was impressive in her collegiate debut, scoring four goals and dishing out one assist. Glenn also contributed a hat trick and tacked on one assist.

From the jump, the Cardinals controlled the game with Robey netting an early goal. Two minutes later, Klein doubled the Otterbein lead with her first goal of the day. The Pioneers cut the lead in half, but the visitors added three more goals before the end of the opening period. Freshman Madi McIntosh kicked off her four point afternoon with a goal and Klein added her second in the quarter. Leela Henry provided Otterbein's fifth goal, leading 5-2 after one.

Karley Gerst's first collegiate goal started the scoring in the second period off a pass from Robey. Otterbein answered a Transylvania goal with goals from Olivia Blau and Klein to push the Cardinals to a 9-3 halftime advantage.

Robey, Blau and Glenn opened the scoring in the third quarter. Another Klein goal gave the Cardinals a 13-6 lead with just over six minutes remaining in the period. Otterbein finished the third quarter on a 3-0 run with goals from Robey, Henry and Glenn to provide the Cardinals with a 16-6 edge through three.

In the fourth, Klein, Gerst and McIntosh scored the final four Otterbein goals to push the team over the 10-goal threshold and leave Kentucky with an opening day victory.

Sophomore goalie Alayna Bogner earned the win, making seven saves on the day.

Robey led the Cardinals, picking up six ground balls in the win, as Glenn tallied four. Glenn caused a team-high three turnovers for the Cardinals. Otterbein outshot the Pioneers, 39-17.

On Wednesday the Cardinals will host Ohio Wesleyan for their home opener. First draw is set for 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
