WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University women's lacrosse team put together a complete performance Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium, rolling past Hanover College, 20-1, to improve to 2-2 overall.
Otterbein set the tone immediately, scoring seven goals in the opening five minutes and building an 8-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals kept their foot on the gas the rest of the way, outscoring Hanover 12-0 over the final three periods while controlling possession and tempo.
Freshman Leela Henry and senior Ava Robey paced the offense with eight points apiece. Henry finished with four goals and four assists, while Robey added four goals and four assists of her own. Freshman Dakota Klein chipped in three goals, and junior Alyssa Glenn totaled two goals and one assist.
Freshmen Vivian Isaacs scored twice, including a pair of free-position finishes, while Kyla Klaus posted two goals and Joslyn VanGundy added a free-position goal. Karley Gerst rounded out the scoring with a man-up goal in the fourth, assisted by sophomore Madison Sams.
Defensively, the Cardinals limited Hanover to seven shots and four saves were split between sophomore goalkeepers Alayna Bogner and Catherine Hannaford. Otterbein also held the advantage on the draw circle, led by Henry with eight draw controls as the Cardinals finished with 17 as a team.
Otterbein finished with a 35-7 edge in shots and continued to pressure Hanover into mistakes, forcing 22 turnovers on the afternoon.
