WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Otterbein women's lacrosse team kept it rolling Wednesday night at Memorial Stadium, pulling away early and never looking back in a 17–6 win over Wittenberg. The Cardinals improved to 3-2 overall with the nonconference victory.
Otterbein jumped out in front with a pair of first-quarter goals from freshmen Dakota Klein and Leela Henry, then answered a brief Wittenberg push with three straight to close the opening period ahead 5–2. Senior Ava Robey added a man-up finish during the surge, while junior Alyssa Glenn capped the quarter with a goal off a feed from Klein.
The Cardinals put the game out of reach in the second, scoring six times in the frame. Glenn struck twice early in the quarter and Henry added another, as Otterbein carried an 11–4 lead into halftime.
Henry and Robey kept the pressure on after the break, with Otterbein scoring three goals in the third and three more in the fourth to finish the night with 17 total. The Cardinals also held Wittenberg scoreless in the third quarter.
Henry led the offense with five goals and added nine draw controls, while Robey posted a big all-around line with three goals and seven assists. Glenn finished with four goals, and freshman Madi McIntosh chipped in a goal and two assists. Klein and freshman Karley Gerst each added a goal and two assists, and freshmen Vivian Isaacs and Joslyn VanGundy both found the net as well.
In goal, sophomore Alayna Bogner earned the win with three saves over the opening 30 minutes, and freshman Kristina Pérez closed the night with two saves in relief.
Otterbein returns to action on Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m. when it hosts Albion. The game will be part of a home doubleheader at Memorial Stadium, with the men's lacrosse team facing Adrian at 2 p.m.
