Women third, men fourth at OAC Indoor Championships

TIFFIN, Ohio – Led by three individual champions, the Otterbein University indoor track and field teams wrapped up day two at the OAC Championships. Izaac Swope, Anastasia Smith and Charlie Dolliver provided individual wins to lead the women's team to a third place finish (84 points) and the men's team (82.5 points) to a fourth place showing.

Swope won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.28 seconds. Dolliver's leap of 11.41m in the triple jump earned her the crown, while Smith tossed a 13.01m mark in the shot put to score the most allotted points for the Cardinals.

Dolliver's excellence rolled into the 60m hurdles, taking second with a time of 9.18. She also placed fourth in the high jump (1.59m) and fifth in the long jump (5.28m).

Otterbein saw both Ava Stratmann (5:13.48) and Kate Thormeier (5:17.41) finish third and fourth respectively in the women's mile. Thormeier added a fifth place finish in the 3000m with a race time of 10:38.19. Ella Degenhard was just behind in the event, taking sixth with a time of 10:39.19. Freshman Gigi Leiter ran a 2:21.63 in the 800m to take fourth and round out the women's distance events.

Smith led the throwers, while Kendra Detillion threw an 11.58m mark to finish eighth in the shot put for the Cardinals.

On the men's side Swope was one of three Cardinals to place in the 60m hurdles, joined by freshman Jackson Steider (sixth, 8.53) and Cam Smart (seventh, 8.71). Richmond Honkpo's weekend was capped with a third place finish in the triple jump (13.76m).

In distance events, senior Payne Ratliff led the way with a third place run in the 3000m (8:38.90). In the mile, Mitch Green turned in time of 4:18.25 to place fourth. Senior Gavin Kelly's time of 1:58.69 earned him seventh in the 800m to round out the Cardinals.

Otterbein will gear up for the outdoor season which begins Mar. 19. Select athletes will advance to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, held Mar. 13-14. The official list will be announced in the coming days.
