ADA, Ohio – The Otterbein University women's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to six games Wednesday night, earning its first OAC victory of the season with a 16-11 win at Ohio Northern.
The six-game stretch marks the program's longest winning streak since the 2014 season.
Otterbein (7-2, 1-0 OAC) wasted no time taking control, opening the game with six unanswered goals in the first quarter. The Cardinals built a 6-0 lead before Ohio Northern answered late in the period to make it 6-2 after one.
The Cardinals continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 9-4 by halftime.
Ohio Northern made its push in the third, pulling within three at 9-6, but Otterbein responded with a key stretch, scoring four of the next five goals to regain control and carry a 13-9 lead into the final quarter.
Otterbein maintained its cushion in the fourth, adding three more goals to secure the 16-11 road win.
Senior Ava Robey turned in a historic performance, finishing with four goals and eight assists for 12 total points. Her 12 points tie for the second-most in a single game in program history, while her eight assists also rank second all-time in a game.
Freshmen Leela Henry and Dakota Klein each finished three goals and two assists, while junior Alyssa Glenn chipped in three goals.
Otterbein outshot Ohio Northern 43-20 and held a 15-14 edge in draw controls.
The Cardinals will return home Saturday, March 28, hosting The College of Wooster at 1 p.m. inside Memorial Stadium.
