Mulligan hits 100 career points, MLAX falls in OAC Quarterfinals

WESTERVILLE – In the OAC Tournament Quarterfinal, the Otterbein University men's lacrosse team saw its season come to a close, dropping a 14-11 decision to the University of Mount Union.

Senior Zach Mulligan scored a pair of goals, becoming the newest member of the 100 career points club. Sophomore Gabe Thayer led Otterbein with four goals, as Max Luther added two goals and one assist.

Mount Union doubled up the Cardinals in the first quarter, holding a 6-3 lead over the hosts. The Purple Raiders carried that momentum into the second quarter with two late goals to hold a 9-5 edge at halftime.

Trailing 13-7 with 12 minutes remaining, the Cardinals scored three straight goals to cut the deficit to 13-10. Andrew Lewis, Mulligan and Thayer all netted goals in that stretch to put Otterbein within striking distance. MTU was able to force turnovers and get stops down the stretch to advance to the OAC Semifinals.

The Cardinals outshot the Purple Raiders and were an efficient 16 of 18 on the clear. Isaiah Smith picked up four ground balls and caused three turnovers. Zach Courie tallied nine saves in goal and collected seven ground balls.

Otterbein concludes its 2026 season with an 8-8 overall record.
