Tennis sees six named Academic All-District

WESTERVILLE – Six members of the Otterbein University men's and women's tennis teams earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, as announced on Tuesday.

On the women's side, the Cardinals saw four members recognized – Caitlin Pennington, Taryn Simmers, Breanna Ball and Niya Bell. Neil Reddy and junior Jake Chilcote represented the men's team.

The Cardinals' primary top four lineup spots were represented, with Ball mainly playing No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Simmers spent a majority of the season at No. 2 doubles and No. 2 singles, with Bell as her doubles partner in the No. 3 singles spot in the lineup. Pennington was a consistent lineup player in both No. 3 doubles and No. 4 singles.

Chilcote spent most of the season locked into the No. 3 singles spot in the lineup, while Reddy was a mainstay at the No. 5 spot. The two floated between all three doubles spots in a versatile Cardinal lineup.

To be eligible, one must compete in at least 70 percent of the team scored events, be a sophomore or higher in both athletic and academic standing, and hold a cumulative GPA of a 3.50 or better.

This is the second consecutive honor for Simmers and Reddy after both received recognition in 2025.

Both the men's and women's squads finished second in the OAC standings and advanced to the OAC Tournament Championship match. The teams were upended in the championship by Ohio Northern, 4-0.
