Otterbein Announces 2026 Hall of Fame Class

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The 18th Otterbein University Athletics Hall of Fame class has been selected and will be welcomed in early October during an official ceremony. Six individuals comprise this year's class, along with the Cardinal Achievement Citation that was debuted in 2025, listed below in alphabetical order.

Gerry D'Arcy – Men's Soccer Coach, 1989-2016

At the helm of the Otterbein men's soccer program for 28 seasons, D'Arcy compiled a record of 274-210-39, including five NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and a National Runner-Up finish in 2002. D'Arcy was named the OAC Coach of the Year three times (1997, 1999, 2002) and earned Ohio and Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors following the historic 2002 campaign.

Mike Grayem – Men's Basketball, class of 1966

Grayem played a pivotal role in the success of Otterbein men's basketball, earning Third Team All-Ohio honors in 1962. Making an immediate impact on the hardwood, Grayem helped lead the Cardinals to a 52-19 record over his final three seasons and was named a team captain as a senior. Grayem passed away in 2017. His contributions to Cardinal basketball remain and important part of the program's history

Bill Hillier – Football and Baseball, class of 1979

A standout two-sport athlete during his time as a Cardinal, Hillier earned All-OAC honors in both football and baseball. He was a four-year starter at quarterback, throwing for 4,258 yards and 35 touchdowns while helping Otterbein enjoy some of its best seasons during his career. On the diamond, Hillier excelled as a pitcher and earned All-OAC honors in 1978.

Markita (May) Suttle – Track and Field, class of 2003

A standout in the Cardinal track and field program, Suttle became the first Otterbein female All-American in track and field by placing seventh in the 55-meter hurdles at the 2003 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. She graduated as Otterbein's indoor record holder in both the 55-meter hurdles and triple jump. Outdoors, she graduated holding the school record in the 100-meter hurdles.

Wes Meadows – Baseball, class of 2013

A four-time All-OAC honoree and a 2013 D3baseball.com First Team All-American, Meadows earned OAC Player of the Year honors that season to become the second in Otterbein history. Upon graduation, he held Otterbein career records for hits (212), total bases (380), runs scored (147) and doubles (52). Additionally, he was the OAC batting champion as a senior, turning in a .420 batting average and led the league in four other offensive categories.

Steven Schnarr — Football, class of 1975

Schnarr was a dominant force on the football field, amassing 1,437 rushing yards over the course of his career. At the time of his graduation, he held three Otterbein records, including single-season carries (161), yards in a game (222) and carries in a game (35). During his senior season, Schnarr rushed for 756 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning First Team All-OAC honors and an invitation to play in the Division III All-Ohio Shrine Bowl.

Ed Syguda – Cardinal Achievement Citation

Syguda served as Otterbein's Sports Information Director from 1984-2016. Following his tenure in athletics, he transitioned to the role of Senior Communications Specialist and Chief Photographer in the university's marketing office, where he remained until 2020. During his time at Otterbein, Syguda helped guide the athletics department into the digital age and launched the university's first athletics website. He was also honored with the College Sports Information Directors of America Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.

The 2026 Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Friday, October 2, via invitation. Honorees will be recognized at halftime of the football game the following day when the Cardinals welcome Manchester.
