OBERLIN, Ohio – Five Cardinals scored as Otterbein women's soccer cruised to a 6-1 road victory over Oberlin on Tuesday evening.
Olivia Brooks led the way with a two-goal performance, while Keaton Aspacher, Elaina Seif, Ada Bosland, and Sienna Westbrooks each added a goal for the Cardinals.
The game started slowly, with Otterbein scoring the lone goal of the first half. The Cardinals were awarded a penalty kick in the 28th minute, and junior Keaton Aspacher converted, burying her attempt in the bottom-right corner to put Otterbein ahead 1-0 with her first goal of the season.
The Cardinal offense came alive in the second half, scoring twice within minutes of the opening whistle. The first goal came off a corner kick that Alexis Pickerel played short before sending a cross into the box. After a series of high, uncontrolled bounces, Seif finished the play, sending the ball toward goal and over the Oberlin goalkeeper to extend the lead to 2-0 and record her first collegiate goal.
Moments later, Brooks netted her first goal of the night following a quick pass from Katie Kyre on the fast break, putting Otterbein ahead 3-0.
Brooks found the back of the net again in the 78th minute, firing a shot into the top-right corner off a feed from Addy Westbrooks.
Bosland recorded her first collegiate goal at the 84:42 mark, heading home a corner kick delivered by Sela Anderson to give the Cardinals a 5-0 advantage.
Oberlin managed to get on the board at the 88:32 mark, but Sienna Westbrooks answered just 31 seconds later with her first collegiate goal, scoring off a cross from Bosland to cap the scoring and secure the 6-1 victory.
Otterbein continues their away stint on the road later this week, hosted by Kenyon next on Sept. 25. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m.
