Women's soccer battles in tough road loss

GRANVILLE, Ohio – Despite a strong showing against the NCAC preseason favorite, the Otterbein University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Denison University.

Both teams battled to a scoreless first half. Senior goalkeeper Isabella Neal notched four saves in the opening 45 minutes to preserve the score until Denison finally broke through in the second half. She finished the night with nine saves.

In the 65th minute, Brimmer Mather got the hosts on the board with a goal off a pass from Riley Brinley. Otterbein could not find the equalizer in the final 25 minutes, with the Big Red defense standing tough and limiting opportunities.

Otterbein mustered just three shots in the match. The Big Red held the edge in shots and corners, keeping possession for a majority of the contest.

The Cardinals return to Memorial Stadium on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Wittenberg University.
