Otterbein University Athletics

Bobby Wright enters his second season as the Otterbein graduate assistant, but third season overall as a part of the coaching staff. He served as a volunteer assistant in his first year with the coaching staff.

Before arriving at Otterbein, Wright served as a volunteer coach for the Westerville North High School baseball team in 2008, and in May of the same year, he signed with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League. In addition, he serves as an instructor at All-Stars in Columbus.

A 2007 graduate of Otterbein, Wright was a right-handed pitcher and first basemen for the Cardinal baseball team, where he was named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference first team during both his sophomore and senior seasons. In addition, he was selected to the All-Mideast Region team as a sophomore and a senior, and also was named to the NCAA Mideast Regional All-Tournament Team during his junior campaign. 

Wright is currently Otterbein’s all-time leader in single-season doubles (19) and career doubles (39). During his senior season, he led the team in RBIs (37), doubles (19), slugging percentage (.528), putouts (366), and home runs (3). 

He spent this past summer as the head coach of the Lexington Hustlers, a first year organization in the Great Lakes Collegiate Summer Baseball League.

Wright resides in Grove City.
