Chance Byers enters his first year as a graduate assistant coach for the Otterbein Football program in 2024, coaching the tight ends.
Byers (a native of Louisville, Ky.) comes to Westerville after playing four years of college football, beginning at Union College (Ky.) from 2020-22 before ending his career in sprint football at Bellarmine University in 2023.
The offensive lineman was part of a Union team that went 14-6 over two seasons following the COVID pandemic, and then helped Bellarmine go 6-1 during his lone season. Byers finished that 2023 campaign earning second team all-conference honors as a starting center.
Byers earned his bachelor's degree in liberal arts and made the Dean's List three times as an undergrad, finishing with a cumulative 3.2 GPA. He also spent time coaching at his alma mater of Jeffersontown High School.
