David Carroll 2021

David Carroll

David Carroll returned to Otterbein in 2021 for his second stint with the program, after spending two years as a graduate assistant coach from 2015-17. He now serves as offensive coordinator while overseeing the wide receivers.

In the fall of 2021, Carroll's unit featured a quartet of All-OAC performers in quarterback Bryce Hall, running back Siraj Muhammad, tight end Jeb Jones and center Zack Martin.

Carroll is well versed and familiar with the Ohio Athletic Conference, returning to Westerville following a three-year stint at Marietta College. There, he coached the tight ends in addition to being the recruiting coordinator. The Pioneers assembled a 15-10 record during his time on staff as Carroll coached three All-OAC selections.

Prior to that, he spent the 2017 fall season contributing in multiple facets at Ohio Northern University; H-backs, tight ends, recruiting and special teams. ONU compiled a 7-3 record during his brief stay, where the Polar Bears averaged 31 points per game.

Carroll assisted many aspects of the Otterbein offense during his first stint, working with accomplished wide receivers Julian Lowe, Hunter Joseph and Payton Vanderkooi along with standout quarterback Logan Stepp (2x OAC Offensive Back of the Year). The Cardinals averaged 30 points per game during the 2016 campaign and Lowe went on to become the program’s all-time leader in touchdown receptions.

A 2014 graduate of Muskingum University, Carroll was a two-year letterman for the Muskies as a wide receiver, playing in 16 career games. He also gained coaching experience at Pleasant Local Schools in Marion, Ohio, working as a junior high boys basketball and track and field coach in 2014-15, as well as a assistant varsity football coach during that same year. He helped Marion play to an 11-1 record en route to the conference championship, while his basketball squad went 17-2 to also bring in a league title.

A native of Marion, Carroll holds a bachelor’s degree in physical and health education and his master’s in allied health administration.

He and his wife (Brittany) now live in Westerville with their young son, Lincoln.
