Jim Stoyle

Jim Stoyle begins his fourth season as an assistant coach for his alma mater in 2022, guiding the running backs. He most recently helped guide All-OAC performer Siraj Muhammad, who ranked fourth in the league for total rushing yards last fall.

Stoyle brought more than 25 years of experience back to Otterbein, most recently as the head coach at Centerburg High School (2010-15) where he made two playoff appearances and compiled a 42-22 record. His 2013 squad went a perfect 10-0 in the regular season as he earned Coach of the Year honors at the conference, district and state levels. The 2014 group responded with a 10-3 overall mark and was the OHSAA regional runner-up.

Stoyle also served as head coach at Northmor High School in the mid 90’s scattered around assistant jobs at St. Francis DeSales, Highland and Fredericktown. In addition to football, he also worked as head baseball coach for multiple high schools and even led DeSales to the 2006 district championship.

Stoyle has enjoyed a lengthy career in education, spending the past decade at Centerburg in a variety of roles that include Athletic Director, Dean of Students and Physical Education teacher on top of coaching football. He now works solely in the health and physical education classroom.

A Centerburg native and graduate, Stoyle earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education (7-12) from Otterbein in 1991 before a master’s in sport management from California University of Pennsylvania in 2008.

He has three children; daughters McKenzie and Halie and then a son, Tyler, who graduated from Heidelberg in 2018 and was a 3x All-OAC selection at quarterback. He is the school's record holder for career completions (617) and single-season record holder in passing yards (3,244).
