Kim Tackett has served as an assistant coach for the Otterbein softball program across the last decade, and has been part of four Ohio Athletic Conference championship teams.

Tackett came to Otterbein after a two-tear stint as the head softball coach at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. During her first season, she guided the Pioneers to a third-place finish in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) and ensuing spot to the conference’s postseason tournament.

Prior to coaching at Transylvania, Tackett served as an assistant coach at John Carroll University for three seasons. At John Carroll, she was part of a coaching staff that led the school to its first OAC regular season and tournament championships, earning OAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2010.

John Carroll earned the first national ranking in school history during the 2009 season, reaching 14th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll. After a second-place showing in the OAC in 2009, John Carroll won the conference tournament in 2010 and the regular season co-championship in 2011.

Tackett was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Muskingum University for the late Donna Newberry, the winningest NCAA Division III softball coach in history. Tackett was a three-time All-Region pick en route to becoming a 2005 second-team All-American for the Muskies. Tackett earned All-Tournament selection honors following each World Series appearance at Muskingum from 2004-06.

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Tackett was a first-team Academic All-OAC selection from 2005-07, setting OAC single-season records for most runs scored and most doubles.

A Dean’s List student, Tackett holds a bachelor’s degree from Muskingum and a master’s degree from John Carroll. Coach Tackett is originally from nearby Whitehall, Ohio.
