Kemer, a sophomore right-hander from Cleveland (St. Edward), turned in an incredible week on the mound as the baseball team opened conference play with a 3-1 record.

Kemer began with 6.2 innings of scoreless baseball against 22nd-ranked Marietta, striking out 10 Pioneer batters and walking just two in a 1-0 victory. He finished strong over the weekend, going the distance for a complete-game shutout in a 3-0 win over cross-town Capital. He tallied eight strikeouts and no walks, good enough to improve to 3-0 on the year.

He surrendered just 10 hits on the week as a whole in lowering his season E.R.A to a solid 1.57.
