For more than three decades, Bradley Overholt has been a steadfast presence in Otterbein athletics, embodying loyalty, passion, and service to the Cardinal community.

Bradley’s journey began back in eighth grade, when he first started working with his school’s basketball and football teams as a student manager. Though he had no plans to continue in college, fate intervened when he saw an announcement calling for a manager for the Otterbein men’s basketball team. Despite the team’s struggles that season, Bradley embraced the opportunity, quickly becoming an integral part of the program over his college career. He even took on additional duties, such as running the JV clock, and his commitment only grew as the years progressed.

Over the years, Bradley developed strong relationships with legendary men’s basketball alumni such as Dwight “Smokey” Ballenger, who fondly nicknamed Bradley with the tongue-in-cheek “Slim.”

After graduation, Bradley continued to be involved with the men’s team, often traveling with them to away games. A year after graduation, the opportunity arose for him to assume the duty of running the clock for home varsity games beginning with the 1992-93 season. That work continued for the next decade until he also began running the clock full time for the women’s team as well.

His dedication wasn’t limited to basketball. From 1989 to 2005, he taped games for the football program, at first using a camera that was significantly larger than the one used during his final seasons. Now entering his 34th and 24th season with the men’s & women’s teams, Bradley’s service and devotion continues.

Beyond his work with the teams, he has been part of the Otterbein “O” Club, serving as its Treasurer from Homecoming 2008 until Homecoming 2024. Living just 10 minutes west of his beloved Otterbein, Bradley now resides in Columbus with his husband, Dr. Phillip Borders.

The Cardinal community proudly recognizes him with the Cardinal Achievement Award as a true Hall of Fame figure in spirit and contribution
