Otterbein Suffers Defeat at Wittenberg

WESTERVILLE, OHIO – Otterbein (1-9) fell in non-conference action at Wittenberg (7-1) Tuesday evening by a score of 72-56.

Otterbein never led in the first half, but went into halftime down just 31-24. The seven point edge was the largest of the opening frame.

A layup from junior guard Nathan Edick brought the deficit to 34-31 at the 16:00 minute mark, but Wittenberg responded with a quick 7-0 run over the next three minutes to push the advantage back to 41-31.

A Steve Isaac layup brought the Cardinals to within four again, this time at 43-39, but the Tigers answered with an 11-2 run to take a 53-41 lead.

Wittenberg would push the lead to as many as 22 before handing OC the 72-56 defeat.

Senior guard Brian Pollock led all scorers, tallying 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Edick scored 11, including a 3-for-4 effort from behind the arc.

Chris Sullivan and Greg Hill paced Wittenberg’s attack with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Otterbein returns to action on Monday in the Smokey Ballenger Tournament, opening against Hanover (IN). Tip-off from the Rike Center is scheduled for 8 p.m.
