NOTRE DAME, INDIANA – The 25th-ranked Otterbein women’s soccer team played its way to a 2-0 record this past weekend at the St. Mary’s Invitational.
The Cards opened up on Friday with host St. Mary’s, and found themselves locked in a scoreless game at halftime.
Sophomore forward Sarah Sharbaugh then put Otterbein ahead 1-0 when she scored at the 50:45 mark after receiving a cross from midfielder Carly Dent.
Junior defender Jenny Knox extended the OC lead to 2-0 on a penalty kick in the 68th minute.
Otterbein held a 16-1 shot advantage as well as an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.
Patty Duffy stopped six shots for St. Mary’s while Otterbein keeper Tara Carter did not have any.

Day two saw the Cards pitted against Rose-Hulman, and once again the first half ended with neither team being able to muster a goal.
In the 82nd minute, junior forward Lindsey Rudibaugh scored what would eventually be the game-winning goal on a breakaway, giving the team a 1-0 victory.
Otterbein out-shot Rose-Hulman 23-2 and attempted nine corner kicks to none for the Engineers.
Over the weekend, the Cardinals held a dominant advantage in both shots (39-3) and corner kicks (17-0). In goal, Carter was not forced to face any shot attempts from the opposition.
The group next returns to action when they host sixth-ranked Denison Tuesday afternoon at Clements Field. First-kick is slated for 5 p.m.
