Written Sep. 26, 2009 by Adam Prescott

RICHMOND, INDIANA – 14th-ranked Otterbein won its seventh straight match Saturday afternoon, picking up a 1-0 victory against Earlham (IN).

After eighty minutes of tough, scoreless play, junior co-captain Jenny Knox converted her third penalty kick of the season to give the Cards a 1-0 lead. The attempt came after co-captain Carly Dent drew a foul in the box.

OC held Earlham the remainder of the way en route to the 1-0 win.

Otterbein held a 15-9 edge in shots, including a 9-4 advantage in the second half. The Cards took twice as many corner kicks (8-4) in the contest, and also had a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.

The match, which featured three yellow cards, ended with a combined 22 fouls.

Tara Carter tallied three saves between the posts for Otterbein while Earlham keeper Megan Holthaus had six.

The team does not return to the field until next Saturday when they open league play by hosting #21 Wilmington at Clements Field. Game-time is set for 2 p.m.

The Quakers were the only OAC team to beat Otterbein last season, earning a 1-0 victory in Wilmington.
