Slow First Half Proves Costly as Cards Fall at Ohio Northern

ADA, OHIO – Otterbein dropped a 71-61 decision at Ohio Northern Saturday afternoon, falling to 4-13 overall and 2-8 in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Ohio Northern took a 12-2 lead out of the gate, and held a 29-16 advantage at halftime.

The Cardinals committed 17 turnovers in the opening half, and attempted just 16 field goals.

Otterbein began the second half on an 8-2 run, and chipped away even more to eventually find themselves down 38-34 after a three-pointer from junior guard Nathan Edick at the 15:03 mark.

Down just 45-40 with 10:33 to play, the Cards were outscored 15-7 over the next six minutes to fall behind 60-47. The team never got to within single-digits again as the Polar Bears earned the 71-61 win.

Edick, senior Brian Pollock, and sophomore Chris Davis all scored 11 points to lead Otterbein, with Pollock tying for a game-high six rebounds.

Ezra Bradshaw led ONU with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting.

OC shot .548 from the field but turned the ball over 24 times.

The team stays on the road this coming week, traveling to play Heidelberg Wednesday evening. Tip-off from Tiffin is slated for 7:30 p.m.
