UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OHIO - Otterbein fell victim to a second-half run by John Carroll, as the Blue Streaks outscored Otterbein 55-36 after halftime to hand the Cardinals an 88-64 defeat Wednesday evening at the DeCarlo Varsity Center.
The loss drops OC to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The victory moves John Carroll to 8-4 on the season, 4-2 in conference action.
John Carroll took a 15-6 lead at the 10:15 mark, but Otterbein countered and tied the game at 26-26 with 3:14 remaining before the half.
The Blue Streaks took a 33-28 lead into the break.
JCU opened the second half on fire, tallying ten steals and outscoring Otterbein 26-3 over the first eight minutes of play to take a 59-32 advantage.
Otterbein never got any closer than 20 the rest of the way as they suffered the 88-64 loss.
Junior Nathan Edick buried four three-pointers and shot 5-of-11 from the field to register a game-high 16 points for Otterbein. Senior Brian Pollock chipped in 15 while sophomore Chris Davis pulled down a game and career-best 15 rebounds.
Rudy Kirbus scored 15 points to lead four JCU.
Otterbein shot .370 from the field compared to .343 for the Blue Streaks, but the Cardinals committed 24 turnovers while Carroll gave the ball away only 12 times.
OC returns home to host Mount Union Saturday evening. Tip-off from the Rike Center is slated for 7:30 p.m.
