ADA, OHIO - Otterbein, now 2-11 overall and 1-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, suffered a 7-0 defeat at the hands of first-place Ohio Northern (12-3, 4-0 OAC) Wednesday afternoon.
Otterbein held its ground for the opening 15 minutes, but the Polar Bears found the back of the net in the 17th minute, and the again in the 27th minute off a header from ten yards out, making the score 2-0.
ONU was able to score twice more before the break, taking a 4-0 lead into the half.
The hosts tacked on three more scores in the second frame en route to the 7-0 victory.
Ohio Northern held a 28-1 shot advantage, including a 17-1 edge on goal.
Otterbein keepers Alex Kamphaus and Kyle Ripma combined for ten saves, while freshman goalkeeper Cody Kalbfleisch saw his first action of the season in the second half.
The Cards return home to host cross-town rival Capital on Saturday afternoon. Starting time is slated for 2 p.m.
