WESTERVILLE, OHIO - Otterbein, now 12-0-1 overall and 5-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, turned back cross-town rival Capital (7-5-3, 3-2 OAC) by a score of 2-0 Friday at Clements Field.
The Cardinals controlled the majority of the tempo in the first half, and nearly got on the board when a shot from senior Cristen Herold went just wide in the 35th minute.
Senior Lindsey Rudibaugh put Otterbein in the scoring column in the 41st minute, taking a feed to the middle from Molly Newhouse and ripping a shot that would bounce off Capital goalie Maggie Donnelon's hands and into the right side of the net.
The Cards tacked on an insurance goal late when sophomore Emily Bates received a pass from Tara Smith and deposited a shot into the bottom left portion of the goal.
Otterbein held a 14-5 shot advantage, as well as an 8-1 mark on corner kicks.
Donnelon stopped five shots for the Crusaders while Otterbein keeper Tara Carter made three saves.
The team next hosts Marietta on Wednesday afternoon at Clements Field, with starting time scheduled for 4 p.m.
