Men's Socccer Turned Back by Marietta

WESTERVILLE, OHIO - Otterbein (2-13, 1-5 OAC) fell 1-0 to visiting Marietta (1-12-3, 1-5 OAC) Tuesday afternoon in OAC action at Clements Field.

The Cards saw some space in the Marietta end early, but were only able to muster one shot attempt.

The Pioneers saw daylight minutes later when Zach Hill got behind the Otterbein defense and slipped a pass from the right baseline to the middle of the box. Dustin Zimmerman was there to finish the goal and put Marietta ahead 1-0.

Marietta nearly made it 2-0 in the 36th minute, but Otterbein junior Brandon Shepherd was able to deflect a shot attempt off the line and keep the deficit at 1-0.

The Cards an opportunity in the 78th minute, but a shot from Tyler Daniels went high and wide.

Otterbein flurried late in attempt to even the game with multiple free kick opportunities, and also had two corner kicks in the final 30 seconds. None, however, led to a scoring chance as the Pioneers hung on for their first victory of the season.

The Cards helf a 12-7 advantage in shots, as well as a 9-3 corner-kick advanatage.

The team returns to action Thursday, hosting Ohio Christian University at Clements Field. Starting time is slated for 4 p.m.
