Cards Cruise to Victory Over Quakers

WESTERVILLE, OHIO - Otterbein improved to 23-5 overall and 7-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a quick three-set victory over visiting Wilmington Tuesday evening in the Rike Center.

The loss drops the Quakers to 5-20 on the season and 0-9 in league play.

Wilmingotn hung tough early, and saw themselves even at 13-13. However, Otterbein would go on to take control and win set one, 25-17.

Ahead 2-1 early in the second set,  the Cardinals ran off 20 consecutive points behind the serving of Annie Juenger to seize a massive 22-1 lead. The Cards would earn a 25-3 victory in set two, which lasted just 14 minutes.

The Cardinals jumped ahead 8-3 early in set three, and would proceed to take a 25-18 victory to notch its 23rd win of the season.

Senior Rayna Coleman turned in a stellar senior night, tallying 13 kills, no errors, on 18 attempts for a .722 hitting-percentage. Sophomore Ally Nagle chipped in with six kills on eight total attacks.

Juenger finished with six service aces, including four during the 20-point stretch.

The Cardinals next travel to take on Mount Union (6-2 in OAC play) as part of a tri-match Saturday afternoon, with second-place in the final OAC regular season standings up for grabs. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.

Heidelberg defeated Ohio Northern in three sets Tuesday evening to win the conference for a second-straight year, finish 9-0 in league play.
