WESTERVILLE, OHIO – The Otterbein University men’s basketball team (2-4, 0-2 OAC) dropped an 80-73 contest with Ohio Northern University Wednesday evening in the Rike Center.

Ohio Northern took an 11-4 lead to open the game, but the Cards clawed back and eventually took a 14-13 lead on an old-fashioned three-point play from freshman point guard C.J. Julian.

Otterbein pushed the lead to 17-13, but the Polar Bears responded and would hold a 31-25 lead with 5:12 remaining before the break.

ONU held a 42-34 lead at intermission, and extended the margin to 52-38 a few minutes into the second half on a layup from Dominique Royal.

Otterbein stuck around and closed to within seven, at 64-57, after an Alan Kavanaugh layup with just over six minutes to go.

However, the Polar Bears stood strong and pushed the edge back to as many as 15 before hanging on for an 80-73 victory.

Junior guard Brice Rausch led all scorers with 26 points, going 8-of-16 from the floor and 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. Junior center Chris Davis notched a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds.

Three players scored in double figures from Northern, led by Joe Staley’s 17.

The Cards shot .531 for the game while the Polar Bears shot .540, including a blistering .694 in the first half.

Otterbein returns to action Saturday afternoon, traveling to take on 6-0 Marietta at the Ban Johnson Arena.
Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
