Men's Soccer Falls to Wittenberg in Overtime

Box Score

WESTERVILLE, OHIO - Otterbein (1-4) dropped a tough 1-0 overtime battle to Wittenberg Saturday on a muddy Clements Field.

Otterbein held a 12-4 shot advantage in the opening half of play, and despite a few solid chances, none were able to find the back of the net as the game headed to halftime locked in a scoreless tie.

The Tigers saw an opportunity early in the second half, but Otterbein freshman keeper Kyle Ripma was there to poke the ball above the cross bar and out of bounds for the save.

The Cards had an opportunity with a free kick from 20 yards, just outside of the left corner of the box, but Wittenberg was able to eventually clear the ball and prserve the scoreless battle.

Tom Fisher then found a loose ball in the box off a Wittenberg free kick just four minutes into overtime and put it past Ripma for the game-winning score.

The Cards held a 19-10 shot advantage and also took eight corner kicks compared to seven for the Tigers.

The team returns to action Wednesday evening, traveling to play Ohio Wesleyan. Game time from Delaware is schedule for 7:30 p.m.
