Otterbein Earns 3-0 Victory Over Kalamazoo

Box Score

WESTERVILLE, OHIO - Senior Laura Vasbinder and sophomore Molly Kroger each scored their first career goal as seventh-ranked Otterbein eased to a 3-0 victory over Kalamazoo (MI) Saturday afternoon on day two of the Otterbein Tournament.

Just like day one, the scoring picked up early when junior Adrienne Novak notched her third goal of the season in the fourth minute by ripping a shot on the ground towards the lower right corner of the goal. The ball found its way through Kalamazoo goalkeeper Courtney McCoy's legs and into the back of the net, giving Otterbein the 1-0 lead.

In the 33rd minute, Vasbinder took a corner kick from Cristen Herold and booted it through traffic for her first career score, giving the Cards a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore Molly Kroger got in on the action moments later, taking a pass from Jessica Yaney up the right side, drawing out the Kalamazoo goalie, and poking a shot into the left side of the goal for her first collegiate score.

Otterbein would take a 3-0 advantage into the break.

The Cardinals saw some chances in the second half, but none found the back of the net.

Senior goalkeeper Tara Carter made a key scoop in the last ten minutes to help preserve the shutout and the eventual 3-0 victory.

Otterbein held a 16-6 avdantage in shots as well as an 11-2 corner kick edge.

The team next travels to Granville Wednesday for a crucial contest with Denison. First kick is slated for 7 p.m.
