WESTERVILLE, OHIO—Defensive back Dominic Jones, a junior from Columbus (Brookhaven High School), was selected Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) special teams player of the week, the OAC released Monday.
Jones played an integral role in Otterbein’s comeback victory Saturday at Heidelberg. With Heidelberg leading, 34-22, with 4:19 remaining in the third quarter, Jones returned a Heidelberg kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown, and Otterbein went on to score six more on a 2-yard run from running back Colton Coy, a senior from Frankfort (Adena), to pull out a 35-34 victory.
The rover back also led the team in tackles, 10, five of them solo. Jones recovered one fumble in the win.
The Cardinals, 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the OAC, is scheduled to play John Carroll this Saturday on Hall of Fame Day. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
