GRANVILLE, OHIO - Otterbein (1-3) took a 1-0 lead early in the second half but eventually fell at Denison by a score of 2-1 Wednesday evening.
The Big Red held a 13-4 shot advantage in the opening half, but the Cardinals stood strong and went to halftime locked at 0-0.
Otterbein got on the board first in the early stages of the second frame when a ball deflected past the Denison defense in the 50th minute, and sophomore Zach Moskites corralled the ball and netted a wide open shot from 20 yards out.
Denison battled back and evened the game at 1-1 in the 61st minute when Ben Peek converted a redirected free kick from just beyond the right side of the 18 yard box.
Just seven minutes later, Chris Olson notched his third goal of the season for the Big Red when he found a ball that had bounced off an Otterbein defender in front of the net. Olson hammered the shot in for the go ahead score.
The Cardinals flurried late, rattling off seven shots in the final 15 minutes, but none were successful as Denison would preserve the 2-1 win.
Denison held a 25-15 shot advantage as well as an 11-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Cards return home to host Wittenberg late Saturday afternoon at Clements Field. First kick is slated for 5 p.m.
