WESTERVILLE, OHIO – The Otterbein University men’s soccer team opened Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a 3-0 loss to visiting John Carroll University Saturday afternoon at Clements Field.
The loss drops Otterbein to 2-5-2 this season, 0-1 in conference play, while the win elevates JCU to 5-5 and 1-0 in the OAC.
Wycliffe Odhiambo notched the first two goals of the game for the Blue Streaks, scoring in the second minute and again at the 18:55 mark.
The match would head to intermission with JCU holding the 2-0 lead.
The Streaks widened the margin to 3-0 in the 83
rd minute when Liam Switalski send a skidding cross through the box and towards the far post, and Brian Potocnik was there to finish it home.
JCU held a 21-9 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge on corners.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Ripma came up with nine big saves for Otterbein while John Carroll keeper Carl Contrascier had four.
Otterbein next travels to take on Heidelberg University on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Starting time form Tiffin is slated for 4 p.m.
