Box Score

BEXLEY, OHIO – The Otterbein University women’s soccer team scored the game’s first two goals, but eventually played rival Capital University to a 2-2 draw Saturday afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Sophomore Chelsea DeLay put Otterbein (6-5-2, 3-1-1 OAC) ahead 1-0 in the 31st minute, taking a pass from Allie Schlemitz near the top of the box and shooting it over the Capital goalkeeper.

Junior tri-captain Rachel Denz extended the Otterbein lead early in the second half, taking a ball from Morgan Hendrickson and burying the shot home at the 58:47 mark.

Capital (5-7-2, 3-1-1 OAC) cut the deficit in half with a header goal from Alexa Bosanac in the 82nd minute, and tied the game with less than three minutes remaining on a goal by Natalie Fiorelli.

Neither team would score in either overtime period as the match ended in the 2-2 draw.

The Cardinals held a 15-13 shot advantage and also took eight of the game’s ten corner kicks.

Otterbein freshman goalkeeper Sarah Uhlenbrock, seeing her first action since Sept. 17, tallied three saves between the posts while Crusader goalkeeper Maggie Donnellan had seven.

The Cards next travel to Marietta College on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Starting time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
