WESTERVILLE, OHIO – The Otterbein University women’s volleyball team pushed its winning-streak to ten matches Tuesday evening, picking up a three-set victory over visiting Marietta College in the Rike Center.
The victory, coming by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-17, improves Otterbein to 21-4 overall and 5-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The loss drops the Pioneers to 13-11 on the season and 4-2 in league play.
The win moves the Cards within one match of tying the longest winning-streak in program history. The 2009 team opened its season 11-0.
Sophomore Liz Palmer hit .667 in the match, blasting a match-high nine kills and just one error on 12 attempts. Three other Cardinals tallied at least five kills.
Freshman setter Tabatha Piper handed out 22 assists while the Otterbien defense limited the Pioneers to a .044 hitting percentage.
Marietta’s Kathryn Hanssen, the reigning OAC Player of the Week, tied Palmer with a match-high nine kills.
Otterbein takes a step away from conference action by traveling to the Mount St. Joseph tri-match on Saturday. The Cards open against Manchester at 3 p.m. before taking on the host Lions at 5 p.m.
