WILMINGTON, OHIO – The Otterbein University men’s soccer team tallied another important conference victory Tuesday evening, winning 3-0 at Wilmington College to remain in the hunt for a spot in the league’s postseason tournament.

The victory improves Otterbein to 5-9-2 overall and 3-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), while the loss bring Wilmington down to 10-6-1 this fall and 4-4 in the OAC.

The Cardinals currently sit seventh in the league standings, trailing Capital University by one point and the University of Mount Union by two. A victory over Mount Union Saturday afternoon will clinch a spot in the six-team OAC postseason tournament.

Senior Brandon Shepherd put Otterbein on the board after a scoreless first half, converting a header off a free kick in the 55th minute for his first goal of the season. Freshman Conor Holland was credited with the assist.

Senior Kurt Gallant pushed the Cardinal lead to 2-0 roughly ten minutes later, rebounding a deflected shot and finding the back of the net at the 65:58 mark.

Freshman Jared Pulliam, who scored his first career goal last weekend against Muskingum, wrapped up the Otterbein scoring on a goal with less than ten seconds to play in the match. Junior Dustin Kiaski assisted on the play.

The Quakers outshot Otterbein 29-11 and also held a10-5 advantage on corner kicks.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Ripma came up with four saves between the posts for Otterbein to help preserve a second-straight shutout.

Eight members of this year's men's soccer senior class will be honored prior to the match with Mount Union as part of Senior Day. Starting time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
