Box Score

ALLIANCE, OHIO – The Otterbein University women’s volleyball team turned in an impressive showing Saturday afternoon, winning in three sets at the University of Mount Union to clinch the No. 2 seed in next week’s conference tournament.

The victory, coming by scores of 25-21, 25-15, 25-22, propels Otterbein the 25-4 overall and an 8-1 finish in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The loss takes Mount Union to 21-7 this season and 7-2 against league opponents.

Junior Ally Nagle turned in a monster performance individually, recording a .593 hitting percentage with  17 kills and just one error on 27 attacks.

“We were looking for revenge from earlier in the season and were determined to finish in that number two spot in the conference,” Nagle said.

Sophomore Liz Palmer also had a solid effort, finishing with ten kills and no errors on 17 attempts for a Cardinal team that hit .364 for the match. Freshman setter Tabatha Piper, the OAC’s leader in assists, dished out 38 more to run her total to 1,014 this season.

Senior libero Lindsey Russell came up with 17 digs to move into fourth-place on the conference’s all-time list. She now stands at 2,380 for her career.

Senior Julie Radigan paced Mount Union with nine kills and 24 assists from her setter position.

Otterbein returns home to host an OAC tournament quarterfinal match with Marietta College Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. The Cardinals topped Marietta in three sets earlier this season at home.

“We are not willing to settle for anything less than conference champions,” said Nagle. "That gives us plenty of motivation and energy to play our best match every time out.”
