Cards Tally First OAC Win at Heidelberg

 TIFFIN, OHIO – The Otterbein University men’s soccer team notched its first Ohio Athletic Conference win of the season Wednesday, earning a 1-0 victory at Heidelberg University.

The win improves Otterbein to 3-5-2 this season and 1-1 in the OAC, while the loss drops the Berg’ to 2-5-4 overall and 0-1-1 in league play.

Senior Kurt Gallant tallied what would ultimately be the decisive goal, scoring in the 12th minute off an assist from Adam Brown. It was the fourth goal in three games for Gallant, who recorded a hat trick last week against Cincinnati Christian.

Otterbein outshot the Student Princes 21-12 while Heidelberg had a slim 7-6 edge on corner kicks. Both teams committed 12 fouls in the contest.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Ripma came up with four saves in net for Otterbein while Heidelberg keeper Ryan Smith had five for his team.

The Cardinals stay on the road to finish out the week, traveling to take on Baldwin-Wallace College Saturday evening. Starting time from Berea is slated for 7 p.m.
