Denison Breaks Cards' Home Unbeaten Streak

WESTERVILLE, OHIO – The Otterbein women’s soccer team suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss at the hands of visiting Denison Wednesday afternoon at Clements Field.

The loss snaps a 39-game home unbeaten streak for the Cardinals (2-3), who last dropped a home match in October of 2007 against Capital.

The Big Red (3-2-1) jumped in front early when Lydia Harlan saw her shot misplayed by Otterbein goalkeeper Sarah Uhlenbrock and trickle into the back of the net at the 10:34 mark.

The match would head to halftime with Denison ahead 1-0.

Harlan widened the Denison lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute when she headed home a deflected shot off the cross bar from teammate Angie Coderre’s previous shot.

Harlan would complete the a hat trick late, registering a second header goal in the 85th minute off a cross to the far post.

Both teams attempted eight shots while Otterbein held a 12-2 edge on corner kicks.

Uhlenbrock and Denison keeper Andrea Karl each tallied three saves.

Otterbein returns to action Saturday, hitting the road to take on Case Western Reserve. Starting time is slated for 4 p.m.
