WESTERVILLE, OHIO – In a matchup between the two favorites to win the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), the Otterbein University women’s volleyball team fell to No. 8 ranked Heidelberg University 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-23) at the Rike Center.

With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 0-1 in the OAC, 11-4 overall this season. Heidelberg improves their overall record to 12-2 and 2-0 in OAC play.

Sophomore Annie Juenger registered a team high eight kills for Otterbein while adding three assists and four digs. Junior Kristen Bennett and sophomore Liz Palmer finished with seven and four kills, respectively.

Freshman setter Tabatha Piper collected a match-high 24 assists, while senior libero Lindsey Russell led the defensive efforts with 17 digs. Piper and senior Renee Willke also combined for 11 digs.

The Cardinals return to action Sept. 27 when they travel to face John Carroll University in OAC action. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
