UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Cardinal men’s soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at John Carroll University Tuesday evening, falling to 4-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in league play.
The Blue Streaks improve to 5-5-1 on the season with the victory, 1-0-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
JCU tallied a pair of early goals, scoring in the fifth and 12th minutes en route to outshooting the Cards 19-4 in the first half.
John Carroll took the 2-0 lead into halftime, and widened the margin to 3-0at the 67:34 mark with an unassisted score from Michael Melfi.
The Streaks finished with a 25-10 shot advantage and also held a slim 5-4 edge on corner kicks.
Cardinal goalie Kyle Ripma had six saves while Blue Streak goalkeeper Carl Contrascier, brother of Otterbein women’s soccer player Alicia Contrascier, tallied five of his own between the posts for JCU.
Otterbein stays on the road to finish out the week, traveling to Muskingum Saturday afternoon. Match time is slated for 3:30 p.m.
