Box Score

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Otterbein University men’s soccer team picked up a draw in conference play Saturday evening, playing the University of Mount Union to a 1-1 contest over two overtimes.

The Cardinals move to 5-8-2 overall and 1-4-2 in OAC play with the result, while the tie takes the Raiders to 4-8-2 this season and 2-4-1 in the league.

Otterbein remains in contention for a spot in the six-team conference postseason tournament, but will need to take advantage of a pair of home matches next week. The Cards host Marietta College Wednesday at 4 p.m. before rival Capital comes to town Saturday afternoon.

The two sides played to a scoreless opening half, and Otterbein senior Aaric Milligan eventually got his team on the board by stealing the ball from the defense and beating the keeper in the 61st minute. It was his fourth goal of the season.

Mount Union answered later in the half, getting a goal from Joey Trocchio at the 77:37 mark. Neither team was able to muster a goal over the remainder of regulation or the overtime sessions.

The Raiders held a 29-16 shot advantage over the course of the contest, while Otterbein had a slim 6-4 edge on corner attempts.

Kyle Ripma made three saves in goal for the Cards and Jon Critell had four on the other end for Mount Union.
