Box Score

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Cardinal volleyball team tallied another Ohio Athletic Conference victory Tuesday evening, leaving Marietta College with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-20 win.

Otterbein University (22-7, 7-1 OAC), ranked 13th in the most recent AVCA national poll, clinches the No. 2 seed in the OAC postseason tournament for a second-consecutive season.

The Cards still have a chance to share the conference regular season championship, but would need Heidelberg to defeat 10th-ranked Mount Union this coming weekend. The Purple Raiders locked up the tournament’s top seed with a three-set win over Baldwin-Wallace Tuesday evening.

The senior duo of Kristen Bennett and Michelle Gernert led the Otterbein attack for a second-straight evening, each tallying a match-best 11 kills and hitting over .300.

Sophomore Kim Baker posted a solid .571 percentage (eight kills on 14 attempts), while juniors Annie Juenger and Liz Palmer combined for 16 kills. Juenger also chipped in nine digs.

Otterbein libero Emly Caldwell led all players with 17 digs and setter Tabatha Piper dished out 40 assists up front.

Rachel Heckenberg posted 10 kills to lead the way for Marietta, with setter Lauren Mauer recording 28 assists.

The Cardinals conclude their regular season Saturday morning, traveling across town to play Capital University at 11 a.m.
