Box Score

WESTERVILLE, OHIO – Otterbein University women’s lacrosse saw its three-game winning streak snapped Monday afternoon, coming up on the wrong end of a 19-9 contest with visiting Wittenberg University.

Otterbein now sits at 5-8 on the season, and has the rest of the week off before hosting Allegheny College (Pa.) Sunday at noon.

Wittenberg (8-4) opened the game with a flurry of goals to lead 4-0 before a Courtney Hilfinger score put the Cardinals on the scoreboard at the 24:26 mark.

The game would see just one goal over the next 16 minutes before the Tigers offense erupted again, scoring five goals in less than five minutes en route to a 10-1 lead.

Otterbein closed the half with a little bit of momentum, using two goals from freshman Rebecca Carter to trail 10-3 at the break.

Wittenberg scored the first goal of the second half, and the Cardinals were unable to get any closer the rest of the way.

Carter and Victoria Blatt combined for seven of Otterbein’s nine goals, while seven different Wittenberg players scored two goals. The Tigers held a 25-17 shot advantage.

Brittany Johnson stopped four shots in the crease for Otterbein while her counterpart Jessica Jensen tallied eight saves in the Wittenberg goal.
