Women's Lacrosse Falls at Wooster

WOOSTER, OHIO – The College of Wooster handed Otterbein University women’s lacrosse a 21-6 defeat Thursday evening, dropping the Cardinals to 2-7 on the season.

The Fighting Scots (6-3-1) scored the first seven goals before Otterbein freshman Victoria Blatt netted a shot at the 19:03 mark. Wooster extended the lead to 12-1over the next 13 minutes before taking a 14-3 edge into intermission.

The Cardinals fell behind 20-3, but kept fighting and used two goals from Blatt in a 1:11 span to make the score 20-5 with 6:51 showing on the second-half clock.

Freshman Alyssa Johnson tallied the sixth goal for Otterbein with 4:14 remaining, capping the scoring for the day as Wooster cruised to the victory.

Blatt led all scorers with four goals on the day, pushing her season total to 21. Johnson’s one goal and on assist moved her point total for the season to 25, one ahead of Blatt.

Shannon Back scored her second goal of the season for Otterbein, which was outshot 34-13 by Wooster (29 to 11 on goal).

The Scots held an 18-12 advantage on ground balls and won 17 of the 29 draw controls.

Otterbein has the holiday weekend off before traveling to Waynesburg next Wednesday, April. 11. Starting time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
