Cardinals Play Baldwin Wallace to 2-2 Draw

Box Score

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University began its 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) schedule with a draw Saturday afternoon, coming from behind to fight for a 2-2 tie with visiting Baldwin Wallace University.

Otterbein now sits at 4-4-1 overall, while the Yellow Jackets move to 5-2-2 on the season, 0-1-1 in the league.

Baldwin-Wallace got on the board first, using an own goal by Otterbein to assume a 1-0 advantage just before halftime.

Otterbein drew even almost immediately after the intermission when senior captain Dusty Kiaski finisheda penalty kick opportunity.

The Jackets countered less than two minutes later, getting a goal from Bill Gamble off a scrum in the box to take the 2-1 edge.

The host Cardinals continued to fight, eventually drawing even yet again when senior Aaric Milligan found his way to a cross into the box off the foot of Kiaski. The Orville native converted a sliding shot to the right corner to make the match 2-2 with 14 minutes and change to play.

Neither side was able to score over the remainder of regulation as the match headed for overtime. Both teams saw a good chance in the second OT session, with Kiaski just missing wide left on a free kick and BW hitting the right post on a shot attempt.

BW held a 20-7 shot advantage for the match while also holding an 8-3 edge in the corner-kick department.

Junior Kyle Ripma finished with six saves between the pipes for Otterbein, with Ryan Hulings recording two in the Yellow Jacket net.

Otterbein resumes OAC action Tuesday evening, traveling to John Carroll University for a 7 p.m. starting time.
